The Sheffield Autistic Playscheme is a local organisation whose sole aim is to provide an annual, two week playscheme that caters for children on the Autistic Spectrum together with their families. We provide a safe, secure and fun setting for the children during their summer school holiday.
The Playscheme has operated every summer since 1992 and has been funded by donations and fundraising events. We rely on the help and support of volunteers to ensure that we meet the specialist needs of all the children who attend. Whilst we base ourselves at Whirlow Hall Farm in Sheffield, which provides an excellent range of facilities, we receive no financial support towards the cost of such a venue, nor any of the activities we provide.
The generous donation from The Xactium Fund was very gratefully received and enabled us to fund a range of exciting activities for the children. We enjoyed a circus skills workshop, a creepy critter encounter, an interactive sensory session and a splendid Science workshop. Other activities included: arts and crafts, animal care, baking, den building, pizza making, and a trip to Abbeydale Miniature Railway.
The playscheme can only ever run as long as there are funds available to cover expenses, hire of venue etc. Our sincere thanks go to Sheila, Andy and all at Xactium for their valuable support.
