‘Champions of Risk’ was the theme of the 2018 Xactium Risk Network conference, which took place over two days at the Chelsea Harbour Hotel, London. The event celebrated the achievements of all delegates in becoming risk champions within their organisations. It provided attendees with a valuable opportunity to gather information and take away tools to empower them to continue to succeed in raising the value and profile of risk in their day to day roles.
Over the two days, Xactium welcomed over 100 delegates from across the Financial Services sector as well as representatives from Construction and Healthcare industries.
It was a valuable opportunity for risk professionals across these industries to network and share experiences with both existing and prospective Xactium customers.

Delegates listened to insights from a variety of external speakers, including Ariane Chapelle, founder and director of Chapelle Consulting and Scott White, renowned international NLP trainer.
Ariane set the tone with a motivational keynote address on how to get the business interested in risk and the importance of insightful, relevant engagement and positive risk management techniques.
HS2, Baillie Gifford and XTX Markets were represented in this year’s customer panel, which is a recurring highlight of the Xactium conference. This session gave the audience valuable insights into first hand experiences of:
- key challenges faced by these organisations prior to engagement with Xactium,
- the Xactium implementation process
- the benefits observed so far with Xactium embedded across the business.
The Xactium team provided insights into the key areas of product development completed in 2018, including the release of two brand new products into the marketplace, Xactium Compliance and Xactium Audit.
Xactium also provided insights into the product roadmap for the coming year, which will include support for the upcoming Senior Managers Regime and significant development in the areas of AI and analytics. The AI and analytics space is set to revolutionise the way organisations view and evaluate their risk data and Xactium is leading the way in developing a new set of tools to help risk managers to view their data from a completely different perspective.
Inline skating champion, Jenna Downing, delivered an inspirational presentation of her story of overcoming personal challenges to become a world champion in her chosen discipline. Jenna was followed by risk specialist, Markus Krebsz, who provided the audience with food for thought via a series of questions and personal views on topics including the major sources of risk and risk ownership.
Renowned NLP practitioner, Scott White closed the first day with an interactive workshop on personal communication approaches, which gave delegates the opportunity to consider the impact of their own and other’s communication styles on their day to day interactions with colleagues and the business.

Guest speaker Caspar Berry delighted guests during this year’s conference dinner, with his fast-paced, amusing take on risk in the real world, from the perspective of a international poker player.
Day two of the conference provided attendees with a varied programme of short workshops, covering a wide range of topics, which gave them the opportunity to find out more about their specific areas of interest. Xactium system administration and reporting training was on offer, as was the opportunity to find out more about the progress Xactium are making in areas such as the integration of a brand new user interface, Lightning.
Manoj Kulwal from RiskSpotlight introduced the Xactium Risk Radar tool, which will help risk managers to identify new and emerging risks, by provided them with instant access to the RiskSpotlight news portal from within the Xactium Risk system.
There was also a workshop dedicated to discussion around the upcoming Senior Manager Regime, during which Susie Hayward from Collinson Group provided her insights into the key objectives and implications of this regime.
