World-leading analyst firm, Gartner has reported another phenomenal year for the Cloud Enterprise model, with more than a 15% increase of enterprise customers migrating to the cloud this year.
That’s $9.2 billion of enterprise applications now hosted on the SaaS or “Software as a Service” model, a figure predicted to increase further by 16% to $10.7 billion in 2011. Despite raising initial concerns over safety and reliability, the multi-tenancy model continues to strengthen its market dominance.
What does this mean for the CRM sector, I hear you ask? Following Gartner’s positioning of Salesforce in the Magic Quadrant for Salesforce Automation in July this year, CRM scores a healthy $2.6 billion in 2010, as the second most successful sector.
First prize goes to the likes of GoToMeeting and WebEx, whose web conferencing applications have become a web standard, earning them a whopping $2.9 billion market share.
