Xactium play an active part in our local community in a variety of ways: we are proud to employ local people from the rich resources available, enabling us to develop an outstanding team for our business and our customers.

We offer work experience placements to local school pupils and university students. We also offer year long paid internships to undergraduates as part of their degree courses, several returning to take up permanent roles at Xactium. We have strong links with Sheffield Hallam University, University of Birmingham and University of York.

We recognise that our Company and our people are a part of the community we live and work in and we are keen to contribute our time and energy to community needs. We have chosen several local community and charitable causes, which we are dedicated to actively supporting on a regular and long term basis. 

The local charities Xactium are currently supporting include: Friends of Bents Green School in Sheffield and Sheffield Autistic Society.

Friends of Bents Green School is a charity who raise funds for Bents Green Special School, for 11-19 year old students with Autistic Spectrum Disorder & complex communication disabilities. Xactium staff have taken part in numerous fund raising activities (including fashion shows, Easter fairs, Comic Relief, race nights) and successfully helped the school to fulfil its recent target to purchase Adventure playground equipment for the new school building. It is a huge success.

We also support Sheffield Autistic Society's summer playscheme. On 9th October 2011, 7 of us are entering the BUPA Great Yorkshire 10K Run. Sponsor Xactium's runners to help us raise our target of £500 to boost funds for the play scheme in 2012.

Xactium's office is located in the green city of Sheffield and is on the doorstep of the stunning Peak District national park. Our beautiful surroundings ensure that we recognise our duty to the earth, the environment and our impact on it. As a result we have spent some time and thought carefully about how we can be creative in the ways we can make a difference.

We developed a Corporate Social responsibility policy to guide us and a CSR team to monitor our goals and commitments regularly. We've identified lots of ways to fulfil our motto "a little generosity goes a long way" from not printing documents unless we really need to, to travelling by train as a rule, and many of us turning up to work under pedal power or by walking.

All of our products have a low impact on the environment. Cloud computing has a lower carbon footprint as server processing power and storage are used at an optimum with little waste. And of course, there is no packaging!
