Just listening to the Dreamforce keynote from Marc Benioff in San Fransisco. Some really great announcements, which we can already see enhancing many of our future products. A really powerful new capability is the collaboration platform they have integrated throughout the entire platform.

This means that users can access a secure, facebook style page within their own organization, which they can use to collaborate on all aspects of their day to day activities. For instance, in the risk and compliance world, we often come across the need for users to collaborate in real-time around an important risk, or critical compliance breaches. Using this capability, they will be able to discuss the risk, its rating and how it can be mitigated, all securely and collaboratively.

Moreover, applications can themselves participate in collaboration, including external ones, so for example you could imagine loss events triggering feeds to key groups within the organization, or system messages feeding into specific conversations.

Just another announcement to report - a great new interface for Salesforce and Force.com is coming in the Spring - looks very much like a modern facebook application. This will certainly enhance usability and adoption of Force.com and its applications.
